STATE BAR ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE CREATES NEW CITATION HONORING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF GOVERNMENT ATTORNEYS

Committee Seeks Nominations for the ‘Citation for Special Achievement in Public Service

The New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Attorneys in Public Service (CAPS) is seeking nominations for its inaugural Citation for Special Achievement in Public Service.  The citation will recognize the unique or special achievements of government attorneys, including providing leadership on a particular project or initiative or making key contributions in connection with a project or initiative.

“Now more than ever, government attorneys are being called on in these difficult economic times to develop creative solutions and efficient processes that help government do more with less,” said Patricia Salkin, director of the Government Law Center at Albany Law Schooland chair of the Committee on Attorneys in Public Service.  “This new citation is a great way to honor the hard work and the commitment that our dedicated government attorneys display each and every day in their efforts to ensure that government continues to meet the needs of our citizens and communities.  I encourage colleagues, friends and co-workers to submit nominations on behalf of the outstanding achievements that these devoted attorneys have earned.”

The deadline for submitting nominations for this year’sCitation for Special Achievement in Public Service is Friday, April 10, 2009.  To submit a nomination, please complete a nomination form located at www.nysba.org/capscitation The citation(s) will be presented on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the New York State Bar Center in Albany For more information, please contact Patricia K. The Citation for Special Achievement in Public Service is presented by CAPS, in addition to its annual Award for Excellence in Public Service, which recognizes continuous excellence in and commitment to public service.
